Getting back on track!!

SO I have not blogged since December 2008 and of course a ton has happened during this time.  Mason turned ONE and we relocated to California in January 2009.  We remained there for just over two years.  While we where there we experienced our first deployment as a family.  The hubby was gone from Sept 2009 until April/May 2010.  It was a great adventure in the fact that I was raising Mason for just over 7 months as a single momma.  Thankfully since he was still SO young he didn't really understand that Daddy was gone for so long.  We meet a lot of wonderful friends while there and Mason started a Mommy & Me program.  This was a great way for him to socialize with other little ones his age.  We loved living in Cali as there was a TON of stuff to keep us busy.  We went to the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Lego Land, Disneyland and LA quite often.  Plus we had several visitors while we lived there and was even able to celebrate Christmas 2010 with my Mom, Dad and StepMom at Big Bear Mountain.

After the 1st of the year in 2011 we found out we had orders back to Virginia.  So in March 2011 we traveled back cross country to start our new journey in Va.  Luckily we where familiar with the area since we lived there from 2007 to 2009 so this made life a little easier.  Mason and myself stayed in SC with family until we where offered a home on base.  So from the end of March until June 1st we lived in SC.  It was a nice time to be able to spend it back home with family and we where able to connect with people and have lots of fun.  The hardest part was living away from the hubby during that time but well being as it is the military life it is what it is and easy to except than complain.  June 2011 we where offered a house on base literally on the same street we previously lived on!!  Once moved in it took some time to adjust since Mason had loved being in SC with family and friends.  The bright spot with being here is that we have family that lives in Maryland.  So thankfully we have been able to visit my Aunt and Uncle often when we get long weekends.  This has been a blessing in disguise because it has kept us close to family in our ever changing world.  Mason started a preschool program at the CDC (Child Development Center) in Sept 2011 and went 2 days a week for a couple of hours.  I am not sure if it really helped him gear up for actual school but at least it did get him out of the house for a little bit.

2012 has not brought much change in our lives.  Mason finished out the CDC program and geared up to start "big boy" school in August.  We have found a great group of friends that we try to hang out with once a week.  It has been great for not only Mason but for me.  It can be tough to move all the time (try 5 times in 5 years) and can be hard to put yourself out there to meet new people.  So it is great that we now have this group to fall back on when we need support.  We visit MD often to spend time with family and was able to travel back to SC too!  We lost my Granddaddy (Mason's PopPop) in June 2012 and as this was a hard time for me I was greatly thankful to be able to go back home to help support not only my family but to be their for my Grandmomma.  I was there for just over 6 weeks and even though it was a rough time in my life it was great that once again Mason was able to be with family and friends.  August brought on the official start of Mason's school career, lol.  It has been a daily struggle with it but I have to keep in mind he is still young and learning too.  We currently are trying to be the best active parents to Mason and focus on our family unit.

Thank you for reading my quick update date over the last four years and I hope that you continue to enjoy my blog!
